Doaa Kaddah is a third-year PhD candidate in Social Cultural Anthropology at the Freie University of Berlin. Her dissertation, Colonial Echoes and Transformative Subjectivities: Mapping Maadi’s Complex Landscapes in Egypt’s New Republic, examines how colonial histories remain present in urban spaces and daily life, using the Cairo neighbourhood of Maadi as a case study. Now based in Berlin, she continues to explore the ways personal and collective histories intertwine within the spaces we inhabit.
