Krishna’s Conch

krishn a did
what krishna was bid

                                krishna
                               got to it

before
anyone else could

                         put a thumb
                    in the blowhole

of the deep-
dwelling

                                  daitya
                     and made him

squeal
the boy

                              emerged
                  from the whale’s

unlit
belly

                             and rose
                          to freedom
