The Colonist
He seeks a manner cleanly lean and spare,
Self-disenchanted, separate as the air.
Bodily silence poised amid his blood.
A virtue that no memory shall elude.
And peace is strengthless. How shall it abide?
Like rhododendron on a waste hillside,
Hydras of foliage burnished in the wind,
Memory persists, is rooted in his mind:
