I have long admired the poems of Edgell Rickword. He is one of those dedicated Left-wing satirists but is also a true poet. Because he was ahead of his time, he has never had the recognition he deserved. I am very glad the excellent Carcanet Press is publishing a collection about him. He is a very modest man and all the better for that.
