He looks as if
she ought to trust him.
They look, in fact,
rather alike,
with their patient faces
and slender shapes.
His cheek is flushed.
He has made a long journey
and the weather
is cold in Heaven.
Perhaps she is
a little dazzled
- envious, even,
in her simple dress,
a blue robe thrown
around her shoulders,
