Mystery Tour

Senior citizens from Shipton-under-Wychwood gather for a photograph before setting off on a mystery tour during the summer of 1962

Thirty-two men and six women
assembled like a choir or squad
in front of a Leyland Leopard
expectantly facing the birdie.

By now presumably you will
each have uncovered the mystery;
or are you still journeying on,
a diaspora of dots and atoms,

one day somewhere to reconstitute
an eye, a smile, a raised hand?
