Two lines walking in the night
Of each other or by the daylight sun,

Two lines, quite neutral in themselves,
But none other. They are lovers

In the same city or parish lane,
Or, walking in the same meadow,

At another hour, have missed
Each other quite, quietly passing

Over blades and leaves of grass,
Almost trod together, as if to say

A blade of grass has the status
Of a flower, or at certain hours

If we walk carefully, will bloom
Before our eyes quite unexpectedly,
