ELEGY

Now is the matter that I turn away
To find a subject in some other day.
What was has livened in the time that is,
Not on the work-bench of analysis
But, Look, and here she comes! or, That's the place!
Rising from nowhere like a half-known face
Which, by approaching, makes for certainty,
An else unlikely thing to find in me.
So childhood, adolescence, and the years
Which passed once in anxiety and fears
Come back like laughter and a thumping time
To surface unambiguously in rhyme.
So fortune shows me now the day I stood
Under the shadow of that famous wood
Which was my dark horizon when I played
