Forecast

A woman's voice is reading out
The forecast in a studio,
Dogger, Fisher, German Bight,
And listening to the radio
A mother knits a jersey of
Colours you could paint a boat:
Green, pink, turquoise, purple, blue.
A row of russet on the cuff -
Humber, Thames, Dover, Wight -
And soon it should be finished off
North 5 or 6, winds, variable.
Unlike the fleeces of Fastnet,
The underbelly loops of wool
Look colourful and comfortable,
Miles from the ships at sea tonight
