They walk, lighter than air, on a green ground,
Slow couples eased across a spread of lawns
Levelled and stripped to where the fringes tangle.
Weathers in alternation dim and shine
Facade and balustrade, their aquatint
Reprinted on a lake whose blacks and lustres
Brim the retentive stone-this in a sharp season
Flurried by visitations of thin snow.
