Watching the Owls with You

Only two people are allowed in the room,
A room designed to imprison,
From the dark inside, in the Arab air,
Its door wound and closed.

An almost empty coffin,
As if the earth refused to take
What remained, he died indeed
Just like the least important human being,

So gently and so quickly!
If your richness were shared with me,
Oh churchyard, this extinct
Flightless bird that sleeps

Twenty hours a day,
This erect, headless spirit
With its hands and feet bound behind,
