Without doubt I prefer the Authorised Version of the Prayer Book. This is because I am used to the language which is practical and good to the ear, even though some of the words in it are obsolete. They are like a screen between us and naked mystery and all the more necessary for that. . . . I can see that alternatives are sometimes necessary but 1662 embraces us all.
