THE ALMOND

Today is a bad day-
Before you went away.

I consult the same clock-
And you wear your white frock.

I have that much to fear-
By which you disappear.

Your imposed widowhood-
I have not understood.

[Your imposed womanhood.]

I see you standing where
the terrain dupes your care.

   And your pallid stone
irretrievably stone.

The memory of my
insensitivity
