In answer to your enquiry:-I don't know what has happened to Mercurius. Some say that he retired, by effluxion of time, and is now living in Leitwardine, Herefordshire, close to his friend Parson Goosegrass, where his wits grow mouldy for lack of ingeniose stimulation. Others say that he is still in Oxford, but gave up writing letters, being put off by bad imitations of his style. If I could find him, I would get him to add his signature: I feel sure that he would deplore these novelties.
