Heraclitean Haiku

The water has gone
and the man who stepped in it
has also moved on.
          *
Zeus hurled forks of light,
made heaven and diamonds,
Hades and graphite.
          *
Winter, war, hunger
help us to appreciate
fullness, peace, summer.
          *
Let me syllogise.
All things are fire. Fire is bright.
Thus all things are wise.


On Samos

I'm swimming at right angles to the path of the sun.
Waves follow on like multiplication.
