Discoveries

Stav Poleg
Over the years, I have found PNR to be the most essential read – not only as a source of inspiration or finding new favourite poets, but also as a vital learning resource. To give but one example – reading PNR, and in particular the editorial for PNR 247, sent me looking for Margorie Perloff’s works, finding among them Wittgenstein’s Ladder. It was one of those most wonderful literary domino effects: reading PNR led to reading Perloff which led to Wittgenstein’s Philosophical Investigations, a book I found myself delving into for months on end. As for my own writing, when Michael suggested that I write a short essay about the experience of creating in English as a foreign language, I was not sure what to do. Until that point, I never thought this would be a subject of any interest and I had absolutely no idea what I could possibly write apart from the fact that it was always a challenge. But I found the process of writing it to be completely unexpected and I will be forever grateful for Michael’s editorial insight and intuition.
