Caprice for Violin

He was only eight
when he first went on stage
with the Philharmonic,
and yet my brother
stepped into the light
and performed like a man.
No one quite believed
how masterfully he played
Paganini’s Caprice,
the depth of the feeling
the technical perfection,
‘He’s the next Heifetz’
Mother shouted out
during the standing ovation.

And yet the next morning
